What is a quality art store?

What should I look for in a quality set of colored pencils?

• I got a gift card for my birthday to Asel Art, and art supply store. I plan to get a set of colored pencils. My question to the interweb is. “What do I look for in a quality set of colored pencils?” A few follow up questions. As a beginner drawer is there anything else I should look at getting while at the art store? Are there any good technique websites on the web to go to for tips?

  prismacolor seem to be a crowd pleaser with the color pencils you should probably look for: -how bright the colors are; especially if their similar with the color of what you see to what goes onto the paper (it makes coloring easier with less mistakes! i hate it when it happens to me) - also how breakproof they are. all pencils are going to break, but its better to find ones which wont really, or most of your time (and money) weill be invested with sharpening all your pencils. as a person who enjoys coloring, i would suggest copic markers, which are oil based markers that look somewhat like watercolor; but i dont know if Asel Art sells them... And if you're drawing the pictures you're coloring try finding an inking pen to make them look all professional (plus color pencil and pretty much every other color product smudges pencil (and it doesnt look that pretty; i also hate when i forget about that tip) and you should try Deviantart.com look for drawing tutorials or coloring tutorials. mostly the tutorials are other artist trying to share what they've learned.
