How do i get my art career started?

    Build up a body of work - a portfolio - which demonstrates your range and talent. It should be both online and in a form you can show people at galleries and restaurants you would like to display your work. You can tell people you're a great artist all you want, but you need to be able to show them. If you haven't already, consider going to art school - or at least study the classics on your own. Even if it's not your style, you can still learn techniques from them. Also consider learning/doing illustration and graphic design. They may not be pure art, but they pay.

It depends on what age you are. If your a teen you could apply at centenial (a regoinal art school). they are very tuff there but if you have raw talent they may absept you. Try an art university or start little and show art teachers, shop owners and other people your work.

The previous answers seem a little presumptuous on the part that they have no clue as to the level of your ability. There is no easy path and if all you were worried about was what sells I would suggest selling used cars, not nudes. For someone just starting out used cars sell much faster then nudes. My advice is don't be in a hurry to try to be famous or to sell. If you like to draw and paint then do both as much as you can every chance you get. If you do this and have a good deal of natural talent to go along with it you will go far with you art. Pay your dues. There are no shortcuts.

You do not need to go to school to be a professional artist. It can help though. The best artists are naturally gifted--although technique can be learned. Find some local art shows that you can enter in. Start building a name for yourself in the community. If you are looking to get rich, good luck. Only a few get to make a good living selling their art. Build a portfolio like it was said before; try getting a job at a gallery and really immerse yourself in the art world. Not only will you be inspired by other artists, you will meet people who could help advance your career. A lot of the times it is about who you know (unfortunately).
