Does anyone know where i can get a portfolio for cheap?

I want to create a portfolio can anyone help?

  • okay, so I'm 16 and leaving school this year I'm interested in animation, motion graphic and still graphic design. In my spare time I do allot of work and upload it onto different sites but I'm now at the stage where I want a portfolio which I can keep all my work on to show businesses. I have looked at a few 'free website creators' because I don't have any experience in web design and was looking into making a free website and then upgrading to get my own domain name and stop the ads ect. My parents want me to make a portfolio as they know it will help me and are willing to pay for me to get one. But, they want the payments to either be monthly or fortnightly. So this is the question! Does anyone know any way I can make a professional looking website with my own domain and that I can have FULL control over the design of? here is an example of what I would like: http://oscarsalas.com/portfolio/ thanks a lot!

  • Answer:

Flickr is good for portfolios, I use a flickr for my uni portolio with my college work and my own work in it. And DeviantArt.com/ ^also a good place to put work up onto and to get work seen around the world :) Both free.

1. Why are you leaving school at 16? 2. Creating a portfolio is not really going to get you far with no professional training or experience. Especially in the career path you're interested in. You need to understand that their are people who are only two years older than you, in college, and worker ten times harder than you. Being in the art world, with any form of art is stressful and tough. I'm in college, I have a decent portfolio, and I'm no where near the level of showing it off. 3. Creating a website can cost thousands of dollars, depending on what kind you want. Just having a nice, unique, template made for you can cost anywhere from $500-$1,000 dollars. Buying a domain, such as .com . org .net is only about $5-$10 a month, something like that. You can have full control of it, for a price, but I highly doubt that you can code the java, a lot of people go to school for that stuff, and it's a time consuming job. I'm currently a Fine Arts/Illustration major and when I was 16 I felt like I was ready to do the same thing that you're doing. I'm not trying to come down on you, you just need to realize that you need more experience if you're serious about it. At least finish High school and go to community college, it will benefit you. If you do this now, all you're going to be doing is wasting money, unnecessary money. Stay in school, and pursue this dream, trust me! This is coming from a college art major.
