How to find work As a Cartoonist, Writer, Actor?

  • I am an artist, writer and Actor, and i would like to find jobs for this, i am currently attending Full Sail online for their writing for entertainment and i would really love to start working now. i live in milwaukee, i am 20 years old and my dream is to work on my own cartoon tv show, but i would love to act as well. but for me drawing and writing come first. any tips on getting recognized or heard, when you have no money for equipment or money to move cities, or have an good resources? i also need a job, but no one wants to hire me, and i am only really happy with the jobs i want as a career. Please don't just tell me to wait, because waiting is for dreamers. i am ready to move forward.

    Find out who buys what you want to sell, get in front of the people who can hire you, show them your product, and ask for their business. Repeat.

Right now, I would say get work as an artist. Literally any work -- production work, illustration, anything. You want a portfolio you can pull into a reel. If there is a graphics department on campus, try to get a job there. And network. If you can't get a job through school, transfer to a state university. You really should be paid to learn the stuff you HAVE to know to get these jobs, while paying for the courses which will make it easy for you to learn how to do the things they will pay you for. That's why I'm generally down on For Profit institutions. EDIT: On-Line? For ART ANIMATION AND ACTING? Those are CRAFT subjects. Seriously, look around Wisconsin RIGHT NOW for a Community College or University you can get into. You get those jobs by networking AND by impressing people with your skill.s -- i.e. your professors are the first step. ON-LINE? You won't get a job. I guarantee it.
