Question about layers/selecting in GIMP.?
-
I'm making a picture, out of text on GIMP. (It's proven to be quite painstaking so far.) I've finished the hair, and one eye, and I want to copy/paste the eye and flip it so I don't have to make it again. But since line of text is a different layer, I can't do that. It only lets me select the text on the active layer. Is there any way to select it even though it's on different layers?

Answer:
You can only make selections on the active layer in GIMP, so the way you are trying to do it is not possible. Try this instead Click on the eye layer instead, make your selection, copy it then paste it, hit the new layer icon in the layers dialog. Flip it. Click and drag the new eye layer to position it underneath your text layer.
