How can I sharpen a pencil?

How do you sharpen a tiny pencil?

  • i sharpen my pencil that it is like a inch long.Tell me how to sharpen it cause it wont sharpen that much when i put it in the sharpener

  • Answer:

Use a straight-edge razor or an exacto knife. There are also "holders" you can purchase to put on short pencils that will allow you to put them in a pencil sharpener until they are total nubs. Something like this: http://www.artmaterials.com.au/images/creat_extend2.jpg

Scrap the sides with a knife until you get to the graphite. I also do this when I don't have a pencil sharpener and it works really well.

In my opinion, NO pencil is worth that much trouble. If I have to scrunch up my hand to draw, it's too much work. I'd throw it away and buy a new pencil. Still, if this pencil had sentimental value, and NEEDED to use it all the way down to the back end, I'd whittle the wood down to the lead and use sandpaper to make the point in the lead. Draftsmen have special sharpeners that ONLY shave the wood, leaving a cylinder of lead protruding. Then they's use a special wooden paddle like thing, with peelable sheets of sandpaper, to sharpen the pencil point. These are still available at stationery and arts and craft stores.

Use a razor blade they are cheep and expandable , or a cutter knife. Just like it was done before sharpeners arrived :) P.S. you must really like this pencil , huh ? ;) :) :) :)
