Is there a place I can get diabetic supplies free?

Where's a good place in the US to get non-digital screentone/halftone supplies for making manga effects?

  • I would like to make special effects with hand drawn "manga" like those detailed in books like "How to Draw Manga." Most of the supplies used in the series are completely unavailable at local art centres. First and foremost, where do I get the screentones in the US? If the site is in English and they ship internationally, that's ok, but I prefer domestic suppliers. If they supply other authentic manga art supplies, that's a plus. No digital supplies.

  • Answer:

They used to sell sheets of thin plastic overlays that you could rub the halftones onto the paper at the larger arts & crafts stores. Made by the same people who made the rub-on lettering which used to take hours to make just the front cover of a fanzine.

You might want to think twice about creating these effects digitally. I think that unless you have some reason why you can not use the computer (which is not the case since you have to be on to ask this question), you're probably better off creating these effects in photoshop. It is pretty easy to create this kind of effect digitally, and you can get much better results too.
