Would a 'W' on a transcript affect getting an internship/job with CIA?

I need advice on getting into calarts?

  • I am a high school graduate who graduated from South El Monte High School in June 2009 with a GPA of 2.0+ with grades consisted of mostly C's, some B's, very few A's, very few D's and I base my grades by looking at my high school transcripts. Then I went to Rio Hondo Community College from Fall 2009 to Fall 2011 and I stop going there because I keep getting C's D's W's (W for Withdrawal Drop Out) P's and NP's (P's and NP's for Pass and No Pass) Here's my unofficial copy of my college transcript of my progression at Rio Hondo, I copy and paste my transcript from my Rio Hondo account. My first choice for an art school is CalArts because its one of the best art schools in the US. I went to their official website.(http://calarts.edu/) I know that CalArts has a 30% acceptance rate and judging by my high school transcripts and college transcripts... I think I may have lowered my chance to getting into CalArts. Please, I REALLY want as much help as soon as possible in making an extremely perfect portfolio for the Character Animation Program and of course I need help applying to CalArts as much as possible. Two letters of recommendation will be very helpful in applyng from ANYONE who is reading this HUGE message or expert artists who know how to critique other peoples drawings. I am working on my portfolio now and I don't know when exactly I will be applying at CalArts, but I am thinking of either applying for Fall 2012 semester or Fall 2013 semester because I don't know how long it would take to make an extremely perfect portfolio. To summarize, is it possible for me to get into CalArts with a SUPERIOR Animation Portfolio for the Character Animation Program with a high school transcript consists of mostly C's, some B's, very few A's very few Ds' and a college transcripts consist of 2-years of mostly C's, some D's, W for Withdrawals, P and NP for Pass and No Pass. Here are the two links to the description of character animation and the portfolio requirements for character animation, after reading them, I would also need advice on what I should or should not put in my portfolio. Http://filmvideo.calarts.edu http://filmvideo.calarts.edu/programs/character-animation http://calarts.edu/admissions/portfolio-audition/film-video/character-animation P.S If I have to present my character animation portfolio to the judges, I would REALLY want help in how to make a professional and really good presentation because I heard that everyone who has applyed for the Character Animation not only do they have to make a portfolio, they also have to present their portfolio to the judges to show that they have the drawing skills and animation skills that they are looking for. P.P.S Anyone please reply to both my Yahoo Question and my extremely long message as soon as possible. P.P.P.S I AM REALLY SORRY FOR MAKING THIS REQUEST SOOOOOOO LOOOOOONNGGGG it just that I have spent the last month thinking about Cal Arts, doing my life drawings, making digital art, learning and making animations on my computer for the past two months. UPDATE: A week ago, I have submitted and updated my FAFSA for 2012 and 2013.

  • Answer:

maybe you should try doing some extension classes at smc or ucla to try and make a really kickass portfolio i'm also looking into going to cal-art so i cant really give you that much information about it because i honestly don't know that much about it yet but you definitely should not listen to the person who said you are stupid for trying. i think its great that you are trying to pursue your dream, its never too late. don't give up :) good luck
