I want to make money from my art work, am I good enough and how would I do it?

I'm 15 so until August no-one will employ me and as I have now finished my GCSEs I've been drawing more than ever, so I wondered how do people go about making money from their artwork? Firstly, am I good enough? If not, that's fine, say so, cos' if I'm rubbish it's best to find out now. http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/cutetilly333/?action=view¤t=mk002-1.jpg http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/cutetilly333/?action=view¤t=mk004.jpg http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/cutetilly333/?action=view¤t=mk003.jpg http://s50.photobucket.com/albums/f307/cutetilly333/?action=view¤t=mk001.jpg Secondly, how do I try to sell artwork?

Answer:
How to make money from selling art. Other than what was said above... Start going to art shows. Talk to other artist. Most importantly, tell them you would like to start selling your work and find out what is selling. You will only sell what people are willing to buy. They will only buy what fills a need they have. Here is where it gets interesting. On a whim, I did some teeth. One was just a tooth actually. At the show, wouldn't you know that they both sold to dentist who said it is hard to get artwork for their offices. So think of all the businesses, focus on just one, start creating. Then move to the next. Instead of thinking how you can sell your art, you need to think of how you can collect collectors. If I sell 10 pieces at a show, I might make enough for a month or a year. If I collect 10 collectors from a show, I will be selling art to them for the rest of their or my life. One collector would just about buy anything I made. But first, start creating a body of work. Also think of creating a blog. Post each work. Tell your inspiration. What the art is about. Why it didn't work if it didn't. Don't even think of making any money. On my blog, I don't even have any ads. Not until I get to at least 100 visitors a day and probably not until 200. Right now, it is only in collecting visitors mode. It is collecting a following. People love following people. Once you start a following, you will be on your way. Then and only then will you start to think of selling. Best wishes. Jonathan, an artist among other things.

You`re very good for 15,,makng money from selling your art work is relatively easy,,however getting noticed and making a living is a totally different concept,,first you have to hawk your art around, which isn`t easy, make your name known ,,eventually try to get an agent and from there you make your name nationally and eventually internationally,,,this is one of my oils (they`re all on my 360)http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3182/2500014966_39b3e4f714_o.jpg I now sell internationally but it took me all my life to get here,,you will find a style that suits you and a market but it will take years of hard work and a thousand let downs

Find a cafe/club/shop who would be willing to hang your pics free of charge (or for a percentage of sale) and start from there, tell everyone you know about your 'exhibition' (especially family and friends) and see where you go from there. Cafe's are best, as you can have an out of hours preview and ask everyone along (remember to provide freeby refreshments). Don't undersell yourself (you're doing it to MAKE money remember). Are you a fast drawer? If so, set up a stall at fairs/boot sales etc and charge per portrait

you are great much better than me i think that could be worth tons but you know people these days there's always someone better than you still you can sometimes go to shops and ask but not big names such as asda tesco sainsburys etc. but try to think of shops wich are up to your standard i made my own cd and did everything and sold it to hmv i was so proud still i think if you could do them like just black and white then figure out the best colours it would be stunning. i would pay £8.99 for all of them in a collection. still im no artist myself but keep it up!
If your here that means oh boy
it's difficult to say if you're good enough. what i will say is that you're very good and have an obvious talent that you should persue. are you going to carry on learning in art/teach yourself? i think you should as for selling, we live in an age where selling couldn't be easier. try ebay, sell to friends of your family - in turn they can ask their friends if they want any. good luck

yes i think its good. art is all down to personal taste though. some people like picasso and others hate it. find out where your local art shops are. they may be interested in taking one or two of your pieces. they would probably put them up and see how it went. if they sold you would pay them a fee. local colleges etc ssometimes hold exhibitions for local artists. so thats probably worth looking into as well.

you have potential keep it up. i don't know how to get around doing that but maybe if you take it to some art gallery's that might work but if you want to make some money you can try things like gumtree eBay and stuff like that. good luck for the future

Try artistrising.com. You'll get a percentage from any sales of your work. Having just completed your GCSE's, if you wanted to, you could develop your skills further and produce some really good work in time. Try to develop your own style that will distinguish you from others.

i've looked at all your drawings , and i must say , you appear to have a real talent . you've just left school , i hope you've applied to some colleges to study art . Or go to sixth form to get A level art and then college
