How To Draw Anime?

How do I start learning to draw anime?

  • I'm 14 and I've drawn anime a few times before. It's not bad but it usually takes so long for me to draw it. I think that i just got lucky because what happens to me is one day i draw a really good anime then the next day my drawings were really bad. I want to learn the basics but I don't know how. I've read some how to draw manga books before but it gave me little help. My dream is to make my own manga someday but it seems so far away. How can I draw like a pro?

First of all, practice. If you want to improve, you have to work at it. Second, stop reading those 'How to Draw Manga' books (I'm not saying they're bad, but personally I think it's the wrong way to learn.) You need to develop your knowledge of the human anatomy. Why? Because, cartoons/anime/manga are nothing but a simplified version of the human figure. You need to study how joints work, facial structure, proportions, etc. The internet is a treasure trove of knowledge, and there are plenty of tutorials out there that can help you. You can do it. Don't lose hope, and don't give up. Everyone starts somewhere, you just have to push yourself forward and try and try again. Art is something that you need to work at, it's not something that's just going to come to you. And lastly, PRACTICE. Because, practice makes perfect.
