Instead of pig skin or oranges, what else can you use to practice tattooing?

  Any citrus fruit will work. But when I started out learning how to tattoo, I practiced on myself. I did, of course, spend a lot of time with oranges before that, but I decided that it was important to practice on myself before doing anyone else. Also, you might consider going to local tattoo shops and ask them. You might manage to get an apprenticeship if they like your style.
