How many races of people are there in the world today?

  • When you fill out any online form there is a section on "race" there are about 9 options and the the "Other" box. Who keeps track of how many races of people there are in the world and how many are there?

  • Answer:

    3, 6, 9, 12 . . . The people who make up the form decide how finely they want to divide the demographics. Caucasian, ***** and Asian are the three basics. You can add Malay/Polynesian, Australian Aborigine and American 'Indian' to get six. You can keep going. "Hispanic", for instance, is more of an ethnic group than a race, but they are a growing market force in the USA, so if you are filling out a form from the USA it will probably be one of your options. It doesn't make a lot of sense to lump a Hispanic CPA from Seattle with a Hispanic migrant farm worker in Texas, but marketing is a strange field.

There are many, I for one have to fill out the white box when I fill out such forms. I wish there was a box which states Middle Eastern or Semetic. :)

lots , if you think of someones mother and father and their mother and father and there's been interracial marriages how do you decide what race you are? some people do like tiger woods and make up a name for their mix race. because of ancestry no one really knows
