Can Information on the internet be both reliable and accessible?

I'm looking for information on a man who served in war but I can't find information about him on the internet.?

  http://familytimeline.webs.com/apps/links/ not sure which country...links to National Archives of several countries in the Uk that is where the records of soldiers are, there is the commonwealth war graves commission website cwgc.org and a link to it as well...also a military section which may help............. it would help if you put what nationality he was or what country you are searching in as what you can see and where records are in each country can be different......................
