Children's book about developmental issues?

1960's? Old Childrens Book?

  • My mom is 53 and has been looking for a book that she read when she was younger. in the 60's most likely. she was born in 1956 and was able to read by 2nd grade. The book was about a poor family. The girl in the book was invited to a party. She went to the party and brought some of the treats and cakes home to her sister. I believe she brought the cakes home in her umbrella. Does anyone remember this book? or have any idea of a website I could look to? I know it's a very vague outline of the book, and there are billions of books. But hopefully just by hope. I decided to post this question... thanks!
