A difficult question about Heterochromia iridum?
-
Alright, so I'm told that Heterochromia iridum, when a person or animal has two different eye colors, (for example, your left eye is blue, your right eye is green) is very common in cats and dogs but from what I've seen in researching this, it only seems to happen to people if they've been injured? I want to know if Heterochromia iridum is genetic, and if it's possible for two identical twins to inherit it. This is for a fictional story I'm writing. Both characters are a special cat-human hybrid type of persons (It's a fantasy story, sue me) I'm curious if it's genetic for cats and not humans? That's a silly question, and possibly stupid, but any information on the subject is useful for me. I really want the characters to be logical down to the bone, even if it is just for a childish fairy tale.

Answer:
In genetics, all sorts of flukes happen. Feel free to use your creative license to have twins with either mirrored eyes (green-left/blue-right on one, and the opposite way on the other==which would also mean one left-handed and the other right-handed) or identical non-mirrored twins (everything identical down to the hand with which they write.) Go for it!

You are asking about genetics and fictional stories in genealogy.....genealogy is about researci=hing ancestry it is FACTUAL and has nothing at all to do with genetics which is science/biology...and I understand there is also a book/writing category

Don't really understand why Maxi got a thumbs down. I probably will, too. Maxi's point is, this question has NOTHING to do with Genealgoy, and should be in some other category.
