Who was the father of John Benjamin Tolkien? (b.1752)?
-
This is as far back as I've been able to trace J.R.R. Tolkien's (the author of the Lord of the Rings trilogy) family tree on his father's side. John Benjamin was born in London, England in 1752, the great-great-grandfather of J.R.R. Tolkien. However, it may be that John Benjamin's father was not born in England (possibly Germany). Any information will help :)

Have you found this? Not sure it is much help, though. None of the trees on ancestry.com go back any further. http://freepages.folklore.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~elessar5/pafg01.htm
