Ideas for my birthday party?

First Birthday Party Ideas?

  • My youngest son is 9 months old, he will be 1 November 17. I live in Massachusetts, so the weather for November is very unpredictable. The climate can be anywhere from fairly warm to snow on the ground around my sons birthday. So an outdoor party is most likely out of the question. I have a small apartment that isnt suitable for a birthday party, and cant use any one elses homes so i will be renting a small hall for a very decent price. It isnt going to be a huge party or anything so i dont want people to think im going over board. The people i would be inviting would include my sons grandparents, uncle, a couple of my close cousins, aunts, and a few of my very close friends who have kids. The age range of kids that would be there would be from 1(my son) up to 8 years old. Probably around 10 kids total. I know I have time to think about it, but im having trouble thinking of things to do for his party. I dont really want to do the usual tv/cartoon character themed parties and im not to found of all the baby blue 1st birthday decorations either. I was thinking of possibly a Fall themed or something to do a little with thanksgiving. But i cant come up with any ideas on anything, types of food, decorations, or activities/games. So basically im looking for some really good theme ideas for a November boys First birthday party. Or ideas for a Fall themed boys first birthday party. Also any ideas for food and games to go with the theme you choose would be greatly appreciated Thank you in advance for your ideas

I've been watching this webshow called "Got Caiter'd" on Youtube.com with Caitlin McDermott and she has tutorial videos on how to decorate cupcakes! They're REALLY easy and anybody can do it! OMG Im on here asking about my daughters birthday too!! lol. She is 9 months, will be 1 year on November 6th, 2011 and we are also having her a party at a hall! lol!! We are having her a princess theme. Your fall idea sounds pretty cool. I say you have lots of warm side dishes for a fall theme. And you can have foilage decorations, and brown and golden colors, look on etsy. com and you will find lots of cute things. You should do a candy table, that would be a nice focal point, thats we are doing. They are really fun, and on that table you can scatter maple leaves and have pretty golden confetti etc. etc. Good luck!! and i'm glad i'm not the only one having something "big" for my baby ;)

A barnyard party would be perfect for fall! You could use red/white checkered table cloths and put all your utensils in baskets and serve bbq style food. http://www.orientaltrading.com/ has lots of great ideas for decorations and party favors. I especially love the multi-colored bandanas to give to kids as party favors. You could decorate with corn husks, farm animal cut outs, mini hay bails and pails/baskets of apples. You could do an old mcDonald had a farm type of b-day invitation, too. I personally love this party them idea for a first birthday!
