Stuff to bring to the mountains?

What kind of food should I bring to a weekend long party?

  • I am attending a party this weekend with my boyfriend. The party is a birthday party for one of his good friends. I am also friendly with this guy, as I have met and hung out with him a dozen or so times. It's a weekend long affair at a cabin in the mountains about two hours away. The guy hosting the party said you need to bring your own food/drinks. There is a full kitchen, along with a grill. I'm unsure how much freezer/fridge space there will be for food, so I don't want to bring a whole bunch of stuff and pack up the fridge because then no one else will have room for anything! So my question is, what kind of food can I bring for the weekend that is delicious, easy to prepare, and doesn't need to be frozen/refrigerated for an extended period? Any ideas?

  • Answer:

Sounds like a great time. I'd bring steaks or boneless breasts of chicken for the grill if you're all meat eaters. A really good frozen home-made pasta sauce and a box of spaghetti with a loaf of Italian bread is also easy to transport. Pancakes for breakfast would be nice too.

I'd plan on some canned goods, to be left in the car.
