Why do people think cats are mean and dogs are the best?

  • I've heard a lot of people saying "Dogs are man's best friend." Dogs are pretty cool, but honestly, I'm a cat person. Here, let me tell you why, and I'm going to ask why people think dogs are superior to other pets. They aren't. And I'm not bashing dogs, I grew up with cats and don't get me wrong, I like a lot of dogs! But you could describe me a lot better as a 'cat person'. 1. "Dogs are loyal!" Yes. Dogs are very loyal. But you know what, they aren't the ONLY loyal pets. Sure, they protect people, work in police stations, and rescue people from avalanches! This doesn't mean they are the most amazingest most best pet out there. My cat is loyal, as far as I could say. When I get home, he greets me at the door and rolls around as if he is very grateful. He follows me around, and even snuggles me. He's the best cat I could ask for, and a great comforter when I'm upset. 2. "Cats are mean! They are independent and don't like people!" Here's the statement that will make me think you aren't very smart, and you've never had a cat. Cats can be the absolute most SWEETEST thing. They are not independent, and many love people. Mine loves people, attention, cuddles, and a lot of other things that dogs like. He isn't mean. ( yes, he can be pretty independent don't get me wrong ) 3. "Dogs can protect you!" Cats can do this. Not that I've experienced any real life situations of this, I am fairly sure they can. They are agile and good hunters, they would be able to tear up a robber's feet and beat them up pretty good. Cats are by far the best pets I've had. A few have been mean, but I didn't love them any less. They require less maintenance than dogs, you don't have to walk them every day. Litterbox duty is about as equal to walk duty for puppy dogs. So, after that big lecture, any answers as to why people think cats are stupid and mean and dogs are the best? A lot of people I meet seem to think that.

    People think CATs are mean because they torment the animals they kill either for fun or for food. Bottom line plus they scratch all the time meaning a person, meow to much, always under foot, never happy, many people are scared of a CAT, superstitious, CATs are bad for people,Cats take your souls,CATs smell up the home with a box, Heard this in my life but don't be-live it since I own 4 and 2 are pitch black and have a white and black and a grey striped. And like you said they are basically on their own they do as they want they come and go as they want mine follow me around like a dog and all come by name not by kitty. Dogs are far more mean than a cat they bite rip tear pull apart what ever meaning a mean dog Iam not saying ALL DOGS are like this but their have been some yes they are wonderful for all you say but some are plain PETS to Many folks in this world I also have 4 dogs 3 dotties and a pit mix so Iam a CAT and DOG Lover.But thir are many who hate dogs as well as CATs they poop all over, or pee every where, they chase the neighbor cats or chickens, they bark to much ,they shed on the carpet, they have dug huge holes in the yard, theychewed up my new shoes ,they killed my plants by running around them,People can go on and on for the reasons CATs and DOGs are NOT LIKED but you just love what you like dear and don;t pay much attention to the animal haters in this world........

I have 4 cats and 4 dogs. I much prefer the company of my dogs over my cats. But that doesn't mean all cats are mean. I do have a horribly horribly ill tempered cat that no matter how much you try she will attack at any moment. But she gets treated just the same as my other cats. I am not sure I understand the point of this post. What does it matter what someone thinks of an animal as long as you are satisfied with your pet. I have people constantly throwing insults at one of my dogs because he is a pit bull. And people tell me on a daily basis that my rabbits are better in the pot that in my house. BUT those are just people's opinions they don't change the fact that I love them and I am happy with them. It shouldn't matter what other people think.

I've had both cats and dogs. I honestly prefer the companionship of a dog more than a cat because I like a pet who I can take for walks and go to the park and have fun with. I'm not saying cats aren't fun. I do like cats. They do have the potential to be loving, loyal pets. For my type of lifestyle, a dog suits me.

This trait is appealing to a lot of pet owners. People who think cats are stupid just fail to realize, that they don't posses the same drive to please their owners that most dogs do. Another reason for the popularity of dogs is that they are available in any size, shape, color or breed that you can imagine. So if you're attracted to tiny dogs or fuzzy dogs, or whatever type dog, there's a breed for you.

All cats are not mean. A lot of cats are sweet and smart. All dogs are not the best. Some are mean. Some are not smart. So much depends on what you prefer. You prefer cats, and that is okay. That is what works best for you. It makes you happy. I have two cats and three dogs. I love each one for its own personality. None is best. They are just different. That makes me happy.
