Neglect to animals in a pet store/petting zoo?
-
So my bf and I went on a trip yesterday and he took me by a pet store/petting zoo. All the animals in the pet store were well taken care of. Their cages were clean, they had plenty of food and water and the owner (only one running the place no employees) kept them seperated properly. The owner was very nice and showed she cared about the animals in the store. That was a pretty great experience. Got to see some unusual animals including ones from other countries. Well we went outside to the back of the store for the petting zoo part. All the animals in the front, pigs, goats, calf, alpacas, turkins, chickens, peacocks, pigeons and donkeys had decent pens with plenty of shelter and supplies. However, when we got past the front pens and moved on to the animals in the back, it was a disaster! The llamas had a nice sized pen, but had no where to walk but along the fence line due to all the garbage (metal, wood, plastic, etc.) piled up in the middle. One of the llamas was hung up in the fence till we untangled him. I didn't see any shelter or even a water bucket anywhere in their pen. The poor ponies and miniature horses next to them were supposed to be white and sorrel or white and black paints. All of their white spot/patches were orange due to the fact that they were in a pen full of nothing but red clay. I didnt see any shelter for them either. Before you ever went through the door to the petting zoo, the owner had pictures of these beautiful ponies and the riddons they won at shows hung around the door. Its sad to see them in their current condition. The emu's were in a pen full of mud and tall piles of wood and trees. The only ones in the back that seemed like they had a decent pen were the sheep. The other animals that I can't remember their names due to the fact that they are from other countries didn't have decent pens either. Missing shelters, water, and bad fencing and pen care taking. What would you due???

Answer:
I would report it, anonymously in case of reprisal. They aren't yours, but all animals need to be taken care of.Do not rush the conversation with the SPCA or RSPCA (OR ASPCA- wherever you live). Do not worry about them getting put down, and the more unusual animals will be advertised for the zoo most likely.

I would report it to the humane society or the ASPCA. they can send an officer out there to determine the neglect.

Have you ever been to a farm? -Some cows have manure all over their backside because of other cows taking a dump on them. lol. There are cows on a farm in the middle of winter (usually heifers: female cows never gave birth) & they are outside all year round. That is not neglect, they do not necessairly need shelter over their head or to be heated. They have fur & when a cow is in the middle of winter, they usually have a thick coat. Most farmers who are milking cows during the winter keep their milking herd in the barn all winter so they don't have to milk woolymammoths. There are certain animals, such as goats, that are 'social animals' that prefer to have something to climb about on. I don't know what the garbage is doing in the middle of the pen for the llamas. also, just because the llama was caught in the fence doesn't mean it is animal neglect either. Goats, for example, always find a way to get out of the pen, & sometimes a wooden fence works or wire fence works, but sometimes it is a bad thing because the goats will get their horns stuck in the fence, that doesn't mean it is animal neglect, it would be if the owners didn't do anything about it & thought it was funny. That would be sad; but go to a farm for a day & see how dirty some of them can be. Doesn't necesairly mean it is animal neglect. But if you really thing it is animal neglect you can call humane society or anything kind of animal rescue & they will take a look at it; but chances are with what you are describing, they won't do anything about it.
not your problem! not your animals! yes its bad but you name as not having a shelter as if its hell for an animal that normally lives outside without a shelter horses don't need shelter, they can live outside just fine, so quit whining about them not having shelter everything else that you describe is bad (supposing you are telling the truth) you are after all trying to say horses need a shelter lol,
