Could my hamster be pregnant?

How do I know if my hamster is pregnant?

  • I am taking care of my friends hamster, the first day that she left, she gave me the hamster and I did not spend much time with it, now it is the third day and her stomach has a buldge right under her rear, I think she is pregnant, because she hd told me that she had been quite active at her house, but when she came to mine, she was very tired, and has eaten and driken A LOT! She is being picked up on the 8th and that will be the 5th day i have had her, i do not know if I should tell her that her hamster is pregnant or not, i do not want to alarm her if she is not, but i also do not want her to have the pups without proper care... Does anyone know how else to tell if the hamster is pregnant? Thank you, Sarah

its hard to know. as mentioned, it may be a boy. u will know for sure if she gets fatter, starts making a big nest, and in a couple weeks babies arrive.

It is possible that it is a male hamster. They have a bulge at their backend. And if it isn't a male, did you put her with a male? And if she hasn't been around a male then she is not pregnant. They don't show they are pregnant that fast. And if you didn't put it with a male, then you shouldn't have to worry about telling your friend. You can ask the friend if they had the hamster bred.
