Chinchilla has a eye infection what can I do for him?

Something wrong with my chinchilla's eye...?

  • Two weeks ago, my chinchilla had an eye infection on his left eye (his right eye was okay), so my dad took him to the vet, and the vet gave him some antibiotics and eye drops. My chinchilla's treatment should end tomorrow, and his left eye looks better, but there's something weird with his right eye. It's not shut, but it seems to be smaller. Is it okay to put some eye drops on the right eye too? I just wanna know.

  • Answer:

I would bring him back to the vet< making sure of course that this vet has experience with exotics (which chinchilla"s fall into. Also it is possible that the drops were to treat one issue (the left eye) and that this issue is not the same in both eyes. You said that the treatment is finishing tomorrow? Then either way you should schedule another visit (whether the right eye had gone weird or not) also better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully it is nothing or nothing that can't be cured with a bit of eyedrops or antibiotics!
