Is it normal for guinea pigs to whine nonstop?

Is it normal for male guinea pigs to mount eachother ALL THE TIME?

  • A week ago I got 3 male guinea pigs, pepper, scruffy and brandi. I was told they were all boys and I know that male guinea pigs do sometime mount eachother as a show of dominance. But pepper and brandi seem to mount scruffy ALL THE TIME!!! whenever scruffy is anywhere near them they are immediately on top of him... pepper and brandi never do it to each other and scruffy never does it to them. scruffy always looks really scared after and is always hiding away. Is this normal for both of them to mount him so often? Is it possible that scruffy is a girl? I have not been able to check his gender cos he wont let me handle him yet... please help!!!!!!!

  • Answer:

I own 4 male guinea pigs myself, they are all over 1 years old and they still mount each other! They are separated into pairs and two of them mount each other and fight some times but its natural for them as they are just showing who's at the top. It is possible that your scruffy is a girl but when you get the chance to pick him up gently turn him over and look at his/her private parts and telling the difference is easy, girls parts are in the shape of a Y and if is a male you should be able to gently press above the small O shape and his penis should come out and also you should be able to see his testis depending on how old he his. Hope i helped! :D
