How long can my continental giant rabbit get to?

I want to get a flemish giant rabbit, can anyone who has/had one tell me how they are as house pets?

  • *i'm not going to have it in a cage, i'm hoping to litter train it and let it run around in my room(is that a good idea?) *does anyone near chicago, illinois breed them and have any for sale? *i have heard males are better does someone have experience with them and know for a fact? *any other info on flemish giants would be great!!

  • Answer:

I have never had a Flemish before, but I know many people who have and they've said that Flemish are really great pets. Litter training it sounds like a good idea, as long as you "rabbit proof" your house first and make sure there are no electrical cords or house cleaners in reach. Also, it is best to have some kind of a cage, kennel, or X-pen to put the rabbit in when you are not home to supervise. It depends greatly on the individual rabbit, but in my overall experience, males do make better pets. Females, on the whole, tend to get aggressive and territorial as they reach maturity. Whereas, males tend to be super friendly and outgoing.
