How do you attract bats to a new bat house?

Where can I buy bats for our bat house?

  • We need to stock our bat house with bats than will eat mosquitos. Is there somewhere that sells and ships bats?

    To my knowledge.. I think that bats cannot be "legally" owned as pets... I would check on this first... I have NEVER heard of bats being for sale

You should let bats come naturally to the bat house. I have no knowelege of them being sold...

OMG, that would be so adorable! I *love* bats, and I already have the mosquitoes...! I'm going to go look up "bat house" and see if I can find plans to build one. Yes, I am serious!

Um...Bat houses are put up to attract bats. You don't actually BUY the bats and put them in the bat house. lol.

Ummm...I think the point is to let wild bats make it their home. I've never heard of anyone 'buying' bats.

if you put it out in a good spot it will fill soon. Try to position it so it is partly shaded and within 50 yards or so of a pole light if possible. Try to make sure it is shaded during the heat of the day.
