Why are people more allergic to cats then dogs?

Why do people say you have to bathe dogs and not cats?

  • Cat owners or people who don't like dogs usually say, "Dogs need to take baths and cats don't because they groom themselves." Cats are animals just like dogs and both need baths. I find it disgusting if you let your cat groom themselves and not let them take a bath because they are not clean at all. What do you guys/gals think? Have you ever heard people say this, and what do you think about it?

    Cats in general are very clean animals they are always grooming them self's. Dogs do not do this. Now there are some cats that do need bathing and grooming from there owners or a groomer, your long coated cats, mix or pure breed they may need a bath now and then. Domestic short hair cats stay clean, now I do have a DSH cat that dose need a bath every so often for some reason he dose not groom him self he has a shot thick coat.. Unless a cat has been bathed from day one, meaning from a young kitten and they are used to it then this cat can be bathed with out a problem. Now if try to put a cat under running water and that has never been bathed before that cat is going to do some damage to you..

Well, cats do groom themselves. They only really need baths if they get into something that cakes into their fur, or have a flea problem. If the cat is an inside cat, it shouldn't get too dirty. Usually the cats cleaning themselves is enough.

Dogs often have a bad smell, especially if they are allowed to go outdoors and if they get wet. It may not be apparent to people who are around dogs much of the time but for those who aren't, it is noticeable right away. Not only that, but homes with dogs living there often smell like them.

I show cats, so mine DO get frequent baths (before they are shown). I have no problems washing either a cat or dog.
