What is the difference between HOLLAND LOP and MINI LOP bunnies?

What's the difference between mini lop bunnies and holland lop bunnies?

  • looks and personality wise?

  • Answer:

Looks wise, mini lops are larger then Hollands.. If you're talking about the standard of perfection guidelines, then they are pretty different.. Mini Lops have more of a wedge shaped, typical rabbit face while Hollands have a shorter nose and wider head making them look almost bulldog like. The ears of a Holland should be no longer then 1" past the chin to qualify for showing, while Mini Lop ears are longer. Hollands also have a more upright posture, while Mini Lops have a more traditional, lower posture. When a Holland lop is sitting naturally, there's a rounded slope from the shoulders on down with the head being the highest point while a Mini Lop is more football shaped from a side profile so that the middle of the back is typically higher then their head. Of course, Mini Lops do sit up, but, I'm talking about typical posture.. As far as personality goes, they are pretty similar. Individuals vary, but, the temperament is pretty much the same for these breeds.. You can see the difference here.. http://www.arba.net/Breeds.htm

Size, mostly. Hollands are under 4 pounds, Minis are 4-6.5 pounds. I have not noticed any real temperament differences between the two, in general.
