What should I get? A rabbit or guinea pig?

Should i get a dwarf rabbit or a guinea pig?

  • Now this is the third time I've asked this question because i need more answers. Me and my daughter are willing to get a dwarf rabbit or a guinea pig but we don't know which one to get. We do not want a small animal such as a hamster, gerbil, ferret, chinchilla etc. Which pet is easiest to care for? Which one makes less of a mess? Which one doesnt really bite? I would like someone to list the pros and cons of a dwarf rabbit and a guinea pig! Thank you so much!, Amanda

You've already been given several thorough answers. Did you bother to look at the site I mentioned that would give you a good feel for what it's like to own a rabbit? This will help you to decide whether or not a rabbit is a good pet for you two. http://www.3bunnies.org/newtobunnies.htm In short the guinea pig is easier, but it's also messier. Neither of them bite unless they are frightened or mishandled or improperly cared for. The guinea pig can stay in a large C&C cage. The rabbit needs daily supervised exercise outside its cage. The choice is personal preference.

Rabbits: get bored easily can live up to 10 years prone to diseases that are hard to treat require more grooming than a cat overheat easily are destructive when not in a cage (digging and chewing) their teeth never stop growing so they will always be chewing things, make sure you have the right toys and treats! vets don't know too much about rabbits, so chances of death are likely usually diurnal, but also nocturnal, so you will hear them bustling about at night! Guinea Pigs: happier in pairs of the same sex they can die of being scared generally healthy, but by the time you find out something is wrong, it might be too late cleaning their cage is a task! not for children! very sociable when interacted with on a daily basis they squeal and make weird noises they are diurnal, meaning awake at day time, sleeping at night, but also will adjust to your schedule! they are pretty skiddish until they get used to the owner

If i were you I would get a lop rabbit or a guinea-pig. Lop rabbits are really cute and their ears flop down and not up. Look up some pictures of them on the internet. I also like guinea-pigs because they are small and gentle they are also really cute.

ive had both and i enjoyed having a rabbit more, also i was younger when i had it around 6/7, i litter trained her myslef as a kid and she was able to live in our basement, she would get excited when ever i would come down the stairs and she would do anything for a yogurt treat! she would come when i called her, blackie, not very creative, she passed away after four years and i didnt get over for her for a long time, she was very close with me, like a dog or cat. coincidentally guinea pigs till i was 14, they are fun but they smell really bad and didnt like to be held, i did socialize with them for a long time everyday but it seemed like they never got used to me): they bit and are chattery which is very cute, my first one was little from a local pet store with doing research i found that they are social and so we got him a buddy from petco, fred and george(from harry potter) sadly fred died from a tumor): so we got george a new friend from a rescue and they got along for a few months but when remus(the new younger one) got older they started fighting and had to be separated into two cages which took up more room. SO i would recommend a rabbit, but for either, if you get a playpen just a little gate circle thing they love to spend time outside in some grass on nice days, hope this helps(: also remus the one from the rescue came with mites so i dont suggest from a rescue, also i had to move, to a smaller house and had to give away george and remus)': My bunny was also content in her cage and being let out once a day i just had to put out a litter pan
