I don't know about potty training her. I never had that problem except with mice and it is because they get scared and nervous and excited. I'd say handle her more often and put a towel down or put her down in a cardboard box. Maybe as she gets older and she learns that you aren't going to do anything bad, she'll get over that. As for toys: I love to make toys and houses and beds. Cardboard is usually my choice of material and then throw it away, making something new to replace it. Especially with rodents, they will chew on it. Anyway, collect cardboard boxes and rolls from paper towels, toilet paper and if anyone uses a fax machine, those rolls are good. You can also go by a flooring place and get a real heavy roll that comes from inside the carpet. Make castles and houses from some of them, just put some in there loose to roll around and play with. If you are creative you can make some like a playground. Pay attention to which ones get used the most and what she seems to like and use that idea for the next creation. To fasten together, keep to materials that are non-toxic like Elmer's glue, masking tape and such. I don't bother painting mine, so I don't recommend it, but if you build something special you could paint it with non-toxic children's paint. Wood peices can be used to make something more permanent, but be sure it is easy to clean. Also, take plastic bottles, put the lid on good and let her roll them around. Take a big plastic bowl, cut a door in it and put it in there upside down. If they chew a little, it is OK, if she seems to be chewing and eating--take it away. Hardware cloth, a wire mesh that is sturdier that window screen, can be used to make something to climb on, ramps to climb up. If her enclosure is tall enough, consider making a second level to it with hardware cloth, or other materials--keep it easy to clean, though. One of the best things to have is an exercise wheel. I don't know how to make one, so maybe save up and compare prices. It has to be large for a guinea pig, but I know my mice used it for hours and it was fun to watch! I had one who would run and run then look out and around, like she wanted to see if she had gotten somewhere! There's probably a way to build a wheel, someone handy with tools and stuff may help. Like little kids, they like new toys, also if you have/make plenty, give her some one day and then different ones the next time. You can hide food inside sometimes, too. Don't do it if there's any doubt, but consider getting her a friend, also. Live well and do good.
