My chinchilla is really sick?

Does anyone else have a chinchilla that does this?..?

  • im pretty sure my chinchilla is not sick or overheated. sometimes my chinchilla sleeps on his side or lying down. i made him a pillow/soft bed he can sleep on. maybe hes just really comfy. he sometimes does it on his platforms he sits on. does anyone else's chinchilla do the same. or any other weird things.

I agree with the other responder: my chinchilla does this all the time, though usually when he's particularly tired after a good playtime romp. If he keeps rolling around and looks like he's uncomfortable, then take him to a vet. Your chinchilla will probably sleep wherever he wants - you're lucky if he uses that bed! :)

They stretch out and get comfortable sometimes, but if it seems like he can't get comfortable, or rolls around like he's in pain while on his side, then you should go to the vet. It can be a sign of bloat, and they do that to try to work stuff through their guts, like you would, if you had way too much air in your belly, and it hurt to sit.
