I need to know which spider bit me.?
-
I was bitten by a spider in my home. Stockton, CA. It was big and black. I think I've seen another and can't find a picture or name on the net. It is medium sized, black, hairy, and has one big white dot on his back and two other smaller white dots where a tail would be if he had one. The bite I got put me in the hospital for nearly 24 hours of pain that even the strongest doses of morphine didn't help. I'd like to know what it is. I know it wasn't a widow or recluse. I've seen pictures and although I only got a glance at the culprit before batting him away, it wasn't one of those. Like I said, I've seen another in the yard and more babies in the house. If this is what bit me, I need to know!

I hate anything smaller than a cat. I hope you don't turn into spiderman or spiderwoman, but nah I hope everything is ok.

It was probably a jumping spider. They are extremely forocious little bastards. It sounds like you had an extreme reaction . They do not like to back down when approached.

Dont worry if you aren't dead already ,you wont be any more , at least not from the spider . the poisonous ones will kill you in hours . the rest is a pain for an short while and then you are OK. unless it laid eggs under your skin

Black widows are not hairy. Only the female bites and her spots are orange, usually shaped like an hour glass mostly on the abdomen. The male has white spots, but doesn't bite. Most North American spiders' bites will inflict some pain, a lot depending on species, but will not kill you. It's time for the exterminator however if you have found more and their offspring. Good luck. You're probably right that it was not a recluse. Sounds like what got you has injected you with neurotoxins and the brown recluse administers cytotoxins. Check this site out. Maybe you can find the one that got you. http://www.cirrusimage.com/spider.htm or http://www.envtox.ucdavis.edu/cehs/TOXINS/spiders.htm If I had to take a guess I'd put my money on either a wolf spider, they are aggressive like that, or a jumping spider. Majority of spider bites are attributed to the jumping spider.
Huh?
A big hairy one!! OOHHH MY GOD!! YOURE GONNA DIE!!!!

I'm SO glad I live in a country that has nothing more dangerous than a wasp. OK so we have adders as well but they are far more timid than we are. No idea what bit you but if you've seen more I'd seriously consider moving.
