Keep plenty of extra different size shells in the cage so that they have plenty to choose from when they grow out of the current shell, offer them fresh apple slices a couple times a week, but remove them from cage within 24 hours, they also like lettuce, and get calcium from egg shells. Keep a very shallow dish of water in there with an ocean sponge in it, they clean them self in the water and drink from the sponge, keep plenty of hermit crab food in the cage, they also like to climb drift wood is good for them. They like to hide too, so a little tunnel or cave like object will keep them happy. They are entertaining, you can also get them to eat apple sauce right out of your hand, it is neat to see. Hold them often to keep them friendly. It is not really nesassary to spray them every day but it is a good idea to do it once a day, just be sure not to get water inside the shell as you can drown it.

u should keep a larger shell in its cage @ all times so if it grows it can move in to the new one.

Go to the book store or library and get a book on them. Get them new shells to move into (bigger) Spray them with a fine mist of distilled water a few times a day. They need sand. Play with them, they are sociable animals. Keep the cage clean & have fresh water. Make sure to give them treats, look up on google or something or ask jeeves too!

I just got hermit crabs too. If they are strawberry hermit crabs (the bright red ones) make sure you give them carrots.

make sure you have plenty of water and make sure to put in one of those sponges for them.

Feed them, crabs eat about anything. Even cheap Hot Dogs. Keep some extra Shells a little larger than they are in, they like people and move into bigger homes. Keep a little water bowl buried even with your gravel, dirt or sand and keep some rocks in it so they get a foot hold to climb out. Clean the Tank or whatever they in regular or they will Stink. IF, one ever clamps down on your hand, hold it under running water until Lightening Strikes and it let go.
