Polar bear live alone after mating. The fmale seprates from the male and goes off on her own to have her cubs. The mother protects ond feeds her cubs. She also will fight to protect her cubs from male polar bears.

Polar bears are solitary except during mating, but even then they don't stay together very long. The mother will go off to hybernate(sp) and can even have her cubs while she's still sleeping! But otherwise they hunt alone, hybernate alone, travel alone, and do everything else alone.
