How to make a new breed?

many people "try" to make new breeds they breed rex with dutch say because they want a soft dutch rabbit but i'm afraid it doesn't work out that way the genetics could kill the babys and have stillborn you have to be very careful mixing breeds and do a bit of research xx

I'm not sure about the rabbit side of it, but i know that with dogs you must breed a certain number of the new breed and then submit the breed to the council for consideration. maybe it's the same with rabbits?

It's not a good idea at all. You will be adding to the already over population of animals in the world today. You get the Bad Breeder Award

personally i would find several animals with the same qualities i am looking for. then you breed them, when the babies arrive, you keep all the animals that have the quality you want. then you inbreed those animals. you only breed together animals that exhibit the characteristics you want, the more they exhibit them the better. do not breed them with animals that dont have the desired qualities. Inbreeding to a certain degree, is one way of establishing a breed, through inbreeding you can assure all of the animals have similar traits and genes, most dog breeds have been inbred to a degree, so that they maintain similairty, but unfortunately is also why many dog breeds suffer certain genetic problems. New breeds can also be Produced by Iradiation or chemical mutagens, which cause mutation in the genes, which can create new traits such as possibly four ears or extra limbs, or perhaps new coat color or style. Easiest way to create new breeds is selective breeding and inbreeding, this is the old fashioned way Takes more knowledge of science and experimentation to use iradiation and mutagens you have to have alot of animals with the same traits, preferably a trait not already existing in other breeds.

Hi there. It's very hard to make new breeds because many of the kittens will come out unpredictable. I mean the genes will be different every time. It's easier to explain this way, if you got a pair of identical female human twins. And get another identical male human twins. even if they both had children they would both be different.

It won't become a pedigree, it's a mix breed I suppose if you get two of the same mix-breed's and get them to breed it would be more pedigree, but technically it is still a cross breed
