Answer:
DON'TS: Chiclids, Puffers, and IF Tiger Barbs have a large school so they ignore others fish cause they are to busy picking on themselves, and feed them good. See I have a Female Live fine with BARBS FOR 2 YEARS. But people on her will go by there Personla expirance too. So its a Chance you can take if your not a fish extremest. Danios can too nip fins but a school of 8 is perfect to avoid this if your not one of those fish EXtremist. One Male betta cause they can live with females and look for a calmer one who doesn't flare up as much also who will have better luck if you put him when all other fish are in so he doesn't think of the tank as his territory but the others and will Adapt better. Tetras are great too, Neon's or other smaller tetras. rasboras but they are more sensitive to water levels. Dwarf frogs. A Bamboo shrimp, or just a bunch of cherry shrimp. I would go with the neon's. Oh ya never mix Gouromies and Bettas they are the same species and think even a female gourmie and female betta can be risky. Like 50/50 chance and you can always buy a new fish no big deal. Dont pay attention to the people on her that get angy, if there angry they arnt giving advice thats good they are just spiting out opinions. Anyways You could do Kuhli Loches which come in Black or Yellow with Black Stripe. They must be in schools, 3 is ok but six is better and they are thin so they don't produce much waste yet are4inch long. Corry's of corse but don't mix corrys with the kuhli loches since they eat quicker and the kuli loaches will eventually starve because they are slower as well as nocturnal. But mine do come out in the day time a lot so that depends. Maybe some otto cat fish. The are a sucker fish that to me look like little sharks. They stay really small and prefer schools. 3 is fine. Another could be a Siamese algae eater who look like the Chinese algae eaters but stay smaller and are peaceful. They too are a sucker fish so its as good as having a Pleco with out having to worry about up grading.

there are many fish that are compatible as betta tankmates. The four rules that you can use to determine whether a fish is compatible are 1) Not colorful or resemble a rival betta's colors (guppies) 2) Not a fin nipper (Tiger barbs are a big NO) 3) The right size for the size of the tank (No common plecos in a 10 gallon tank since they get to 2 feet in length) 4) Lives roughly in the same water conditions as a betta (no brackish/saltwater fish) more info here http://bettacare101.com/tankmates

Betta do really well with tank mates like harlequin rasbora or pygmy corycats. If you add anymore females to her tank, make sure there is enough hiding places. They can do well together, but they must have enough space and hiding places.

you have a couple of options: neon tetras i wouldnt say guppies since they look like bettas a little but if your betta is calm then its okay at least 2 more females for the pecking order to establish small cories or otto cherry barb or gold barbs if the fish at the pet store that u like are communtiy fish and peaceful and about the same size then that is okay. here is what not to buy: tiger barbs(fin nippers) cichlids(will eat betta) oscars(eat bettas) goldfish(coldwater fish) no bala sharks or red tip sharks nothing like that. no aggressive fish. no male bettas(of course) no danios(fin nippers and their fins might look tasty to the betta) make sure that when choosing a female betta(if you decide to get 2) make sure their water looks clean. they look healthy.not too fat or too slender. and also make sure they are swimming fine.dont get the small bettas tho. i have seen some tiny ones. try getting one the same size as the one you own. and if you see that she is flaring at other bettas then dont get that one. when u find 2 of them that you like. put their containers colse to each other and see if they flare at each other. and if they do get 2 other ones or just not buy the aggressive one and change it. if you need any more help plz email me.

Other female bettas (at least 2 others if you add more), guppies, neons, cory cats etc basically any peaceful fish that will do well in a tank this size
BMTHESPIAN
Any small peaceful fish will do. I've kept female bettas in community tanks for a while now and I've found they only tend to get aggressive if another fish is aggressive towards them first. The one I have now lives with cardinal tetras, guppies, cory cats, and a male gourami in perfect harmony. Do be careful with gouramis, though, I got a bit lucky as sometimes the males can be aggressive towards similar fish (bettas are a subspecies of gourami) Avoid aggressive fish. I had a dwarf puffer who fought with her constantly until I separated them, he damaged her fins so badly she had trouble swimming. Just make sure that any fish you get are peaceful and you'll have no problems.

Betta sororities should really be no smaller than a group of 5. Smaller, peaceful community fish are the best choices for housing with them. If you want multiple female bettas, however, I would go with the group of 5 and some bottom feeders, either pygmy cory cats or otocinclus, MAYBE a school of harlequin rasboras. Make sure you have a very generous amount of plant cover and hiding structures to prevent aggression between the bettas. If you stick with just the 1 betta, your choices open up a little bit. You could get dwarf platies, pygmy cory cats, otocinclus, glowlight tetras, harlequin rasboras, neon tetras, cardinal tetras, guppies, and other small schooling fish. Here are some example stockings... Betta sorority stocking: --5 female bettas --6 harlequin rasboras --6 otocinclus (or pygmy cory cats) Betta community stocking: --1 female betta --5 male guppies --6 glowlight tetras --6 pygmy cory cats Community 2: --1 female betta --5 dwarf platies --6 neon tetras --6 otocinclus
Penguin
Tetras, gouramis, angelfish, barbs, other female bettas, swordtails, platys, any small catfish such as corydoras or pygmy plecos and literally hundreds of other species that are small and peacefull but less common, but no more than a total of 7 in your tank. Stay away from Cichlids except for Angelfish. Other cichlids are likely to dig and fight. Don't put in male bettas. The ensuing goings on may disturb your whole tank.
