How do I get my male beta to like my female beta more?
-
ok this is really weird! My female beta got to the other side of the divider in my fish tank to the other side where my male beta is. I figured that the only way she could have done that was jumping. She has done that twice now and every time the male beta circles around her like he is going to fertilize her eggs( if she has any I'm not sure) but then he chases her!

Right now simply isn't the right time to try and breed them, the reason could be many different things. This is what I suggest you do. Seperate them, I mean completely remove them from one anothers sight. What anywhere from 2 weeks to a month and then reintroduce them to each other but with the protection of a divider. What their behavior. When your male starts to build a bubble nest reunite them. There may be what looks like fights for awhile, but its just the female's way of making sure her future babies father is strong. Once the it is all said and done with, remove the female and put her into her seperate tank and let the male take care of the bubblenest and the eggs.

because you didnt condition them. If your goal is breeding, please do research and set up the tank correctly and condition the bettas for 2 weeks. the reason why he is attacking her, is because males will attack females, and it is so clear that they arent conditoned. The female isnt ready for breeding and the male isnt conditioned.

Male and female bettas shouldn't share the same tank. It just doesn't work, despite what many people tell you. They will start ripping each other apart sooner or later. Males and females should only be in the same tank if they are spawning - even in this case, they must be carefully conditioned first and then they must only share the tank for a short amount of time. You should either get a new divider or try doing some DIY to improve your current one, since it obviously isn't doing its job. Here is a link to some good DIY tips on dividers and some other useful things for your tank: http://www.ultimatebettas.com/index.php?s=8046e4b9150dfa2ee54278ddf4d83328&showforum=32 Otherwise, you could just get a separate tank for either your male or female. This is actually what I would recommend most strongly.

Take them a part for a while, don't let them see each other until you want to breed them again, then have a divider, let the male make a bubble nest, and let the female loose. They may not know what to do if they are new at this so give them time. Also is the female/male ready to breed? Are they too young/old?

It's not about being liked, it's about mating. Maybe the male is just not ready to mate. You can't rush these things. You'll know when he is ready to mate when he makes what's called a "bubble nest". He makes tons of bubbles at the surface of the water as protection of the eggs. Then you can mate them. You don't want to keep males and females in the same tank unless they're mating.
