How to breed zebra danios?

  • please tell me i have one with a really big belly and i think she ready to lay her eggs so i may put her in a seperate bowl with a male. how long will it take? and can you see the eggs? how big are the eggs? etc... thanks!

    Read this: http://www.allaquariuminfo.com/2011/11/danio-information-types-and-breeding.html You might want to do a trio breeding set up. it involves one female and two males. Do this in a tank without substrate. No need for plants as danio eggs are not adhesive. Usually they breed int he morning. After have laid eggs make sure you remove the parents as they are voracious egg eaters. Good luck!

Don't breed them in a bowl....... use a separate breeding tank with egg crate material or marbles completely covering the bottom. You can also use java moss if you have a lot. This will prevent the adults from eating the eggs. Just put them together and it'll happen soon enough.
