Clownfish feeding help?

Clownfish maybe be sick? HELP?

  • So i got this male percula clownfish about 5 days ago. But i noticed yesterday that it was swimming kind of strange. Its been a day now and the way the fish is swimming is still suspicious. Its at the top of the tank, standing vertically and sometimes when it stands vertically its dragged by the water and kind of flips and i know when it flips means the fish will die soon. Also, when its not at the top, it looks very inactive compared at the other clownfish in the same tank. Please someone help!! I need to know whats wrong with the fish so i can help it faster.

Its hard to say what is wrong with it from the description, but it could be a few things. First what are your tank parameters, most importantly, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, specific gravity, and temp? Also how old is the tank and what are its current tank mates? Need to know those things to answer the question well. But the best thing you can do right now is put your clown into the quarantine tank, do frequent water changes, and make sure its eating. If you can figure out if it has a disease and what kind of disease it is you will be able to easily and quickly start treating it, but it could be tank conditions as well and not an illness. And do you mean it is inactive compared to a clownfish at the store or one in the same tank? If you mean you have another in the same tank then you definitely should get it into quarantine asap (actually you should always quarantine first, once a disease is introduced into the main display tank it can live there for as long as fish are in the tank and you may not be able to treat it depending on the other inhabitants). But you wouldn't want the other clown to catch anything. Tank mates bothering it will only stress it out more also, and it could just be that the fish is stressed. Did you ask the fish store how long they had it before you bought it? But if everything is good in the tank, sometimes things just happen, you never know how the fish was collected or what it was exposed to before you got it.

Other clownfish? Likely the poor guy is being attacked by the others, frightened in the top/corner, and will die soon. They are not friendly fish to each other and should not be kept together, except as young juveniles or mated pairs.
