When can add fish to my new tank?

  • Hi have just got a 240l fish tank the guy who had it before me sold the fish a day before i got it. he changed the filter pad but left a the rocks and sand,also have two air pumps. i have set up the tank treated the water, put in a few live plants etc. pumps heater on and it has been running for two days. the guy said the tank should be ok to add fish, the pet store says add primer and you can add fish any ideas please..

Wait about a week and then add fish. Only add 1-3 fish at a time. Also bring in a sample of the water to your pet store and see if the water is safe for fish to live in.

Keep one or two days.If u are going to buy live bearer (20 Rs) just add(I am not saying bcoz it cost less but 2 days enough for this hardy fish) they are not going to die, this fish are real hardy and enjoy till your aquarium get fully cycled and then buy some big and more brainy fish with little extra cost(I mean like flowerhorn(Not found in nature) n some type of cichlids which are going to dance at your finger movement). I have never added primer,my fishes are in superb condition , so i think it is unnecessary. Feed them tetra fish food products, this are real good.

no a fish tank needs to run for atleast 4 weeks google nitrogen cycle for aquariums it will tell you all about it if you put fish in before the nitrogen cycle finishes you will be wasting your money as most likely your fish will die from ammonia burns sorry and primers are a waste of money "the good" bacteria never survive well in those bottles and dont do any good for your tank water they mainly make your water foul
