How can you grow algae in the fish tank?
-
I know its weird but i wanna have a lot of algae in my fish tank because i don t want my algae eater to die. It all of the algae already and i was wondering how to grow it.

Answer:
Well, the more light you have, the more algae will grow in the tank, so providing bright light (either artificial or sunlight) will produce more algae. But your algae eater will probably starve anyway, unless you feed it additional food besides the algae growing in the tank. It's a widespread misconception that "scavenger" fish don't need to be fed. Give it any kind of sinking fish foods, with an emphasis on foods with a high vegetable content.

You must supplement algae eater's diets with other foods. There will not be a constant supply of algae for them, regardless of what you do. Get some algae wafers, shrimp pellets, also a veggie clip and hang some zucchini, cucumbers, and lettuce on for it. Not supplementing their diet will starve them to death.

you can feed your other fish their regular food and let the rest that they don't eat at the bottom and if the algae eater doesn't eat that it will turn into algae but you also need the light on at all times and it is also a good idea to put plants or objects in the tank for them to hide and the object will get algae all over them and your algae eater will be in heaven my aunt has 3 algae eaters she took my advice and her algae eaters are up to a foot and a half they are huge they live in a 60 gallon tank together but watch out for ick because it will kill your algae eater and your fish hope i helped!!!!

Lol my mother is an expert on this, she leaves the light on.Alot. And it grows pretty fast, tho your fish do need sleep so it should be turned off at night if you decide to keep it on.

dont use eny filter and let it sit there for a bout a mounth and u will see algae grow i wouldnt do this if there was fish in tha tank it will kill them
Not a good idea to get it dirty, your fish will die and that's why she HAD a fish not HAS a fish. Put your tank near the sun but make sure it dosn't over heat, or get a good aquarium light.
Clown Keeper
Put the tank where it can get sunlight. Sunlight promotes the growth of algae. You could also get some algae wafers for the algae eater. It doesn't have to survive solely on algae.

Algae grows when you leave the light on for a really, really long time. They also have little algae wafers you can buy at the pet store, maybe try that?
