How do I treat a burn?

My fish has ammonia burn and i want to know if he is going to be ok on how i treat him?

  • i have to turn off my tank every night for about 8 hour and i want to know if he will be ok? my goldfish that i used to have also had it and he lived with it for 3 yrs and the ammonia was way too high so my Green cobra guppy got it when he was in my 3 gallon tank and now he has a 30 gallon tank and the ammonia burn on him keeps going up and down and pet smart says my ammonia is Perfect and i want to know if when i go to bed i keep the power filter off for and hour and have my mom turn it on when i am sleeping. if i keep doing that will the ammonia burn go away and it just goes away for a day and sometimes comes back. so my question is: if i keep doing that will the ammonia burn go away and if not will you tell me how to make him better (besides medicine to put in the tank)? PLEASE answer (10 points!)

    try putting a live plant in there to bring the ammonia down. I tossed a moss ball in my kids 10 gallon and it fixed everything.

Ammonia burns are caused by Ammonia in the tank the black is the healing part. Your Ammonia cant be ok in your tank and you will eventually kill the fish through the damage of high exposure to Ammonia . The only way to get rid of ammonia in a tank is large 50% water changes and keep testing until your Ammonia Is AT 0 You don't turn a filter off unless you are doing your weekly water changes .

Filters should be turned on 24/7. Turn off the filter will kill the bacterias in there which will cause your tank to re-cycle. Ammonia burn can cause permanent damage. If you can't stand the noise from the power filter, get a (canister filter) like me. It has no sound.

if you can't sleep with the filter running, then put the tank in a room that is not your bedroom, and keep the filter running.
