What is the the best forage fish?

Getting a fish soon, any advice? What fish is the best and where is the best place to keep them?

  • Ok, so I have decided to get myself a fish, mainly because I like fish and I've never had a pet of my own, even though I do have a dog. I was wondering, where is the best place to put them? Because I know fish don't like direct sunlight because they don't have eye lids, so where should you put them? And also, what sort of fish is the best one to get?

    I would get guppies because they are easy to care for and look amazing. I also think bristlenose catfish are cool and many people agree with me as they clean your tank but do not take away the need to clean the tank. Some people say they think bn catfish are ugly but I think they look pretty cool. I have mine next to my bed but you can put it anywhere out of too much sunlight and where you dont mind the sound of the fiter.Have fun choosing and post pictures. :)

if you don't consider a dog to be a pet, you aren't going to enjoy fish. fish require a lot of time and attention to all the technical details of their environment, etc. and they give little or nothing back. so if training and playing with a dog is no fun, how are your going to enjoy cleaning a slimy tank, futzing with filters and pumps, and pH testers, flushing dead fish from time to time, etc., etc.

As beginner mollies,guppies,swordtails are best, keeping in sunlight for this kind of fish is not bad bcoz sunlight brings algae(looks like green dot) and this fishes are going to eat a lot but put some plastic plants and caves for shade.

get a fancy goldfish. they are friendly, and one of the easiest to take care of and not die.
