What else can i do to help my betta?

How can I help my betta and my two dalmatian molly fish?

  • I had a male betta in a ten gallon tank for eight months. It was active, healthy, and colorful. Today, I got two Dalmatian Mollies for my tank. By betta started chasing it for a while then got tired and stopped. Now my Dalmatian Mollies stay at the bottom of the tank in a corner and only go up to the top for food. My betta now never goes down for more than a minute. What should I do? I really enjoy my fish and I will not separate them no matter what. I heard that you should always out number the betta, so I did. Now my betta is really sad, so what do i do?

  • Answer:

Neither will be happy unless they're separated, there's no way around it. Try to take the Mollys back if you can, they're just not compatible with Bettas.

There really isn't anything you can do unless you somehow separate them, which you don't want to do. You've made your Betta stressed by adding 2, pretty large-sized fish into the tank. First off, Mollies are BRACKISH water fish, meaning they either need 1/2 freshwater, 1/2 saltwater... Or 100% saltwater. Betta's don't like other fish that are bigger, more colorful or have flowy fins. Tetras are just about the only fish suitable for Betta's. For now, just keep an eye out on all the fish. Good luck
