Does anyone know how to fish?

Does anyone know if fish see in color or are they color blind? and how do we know for sure?

  • Dogs are supposed to be color blind...but really how can we really tell. We know that a Bull can see Red...strange.

    Yes as they have the right rods, and cones in their eyes. Note that color blindness is really a misnomer. For example dogs can see many colors. Dogs are only red-green color blind. (As a result they can have issues seeing a red ball on grass, but not a blue, or yellow ball. PS- Having grown up in Wyoming I can tell you bulls don't hate red. That's not to say that a color like bright might not attract their attention.

your eyes have two kinds of receptors Rods and Cones I forget which is which, but one sees in colors, and the other sees in black and white its easy to determine what an animal can see, if they don't have the color cells, then they don't see in color.

They see ultraviolet too I think more than color as we know it.

They see in colour. Some fish change colours to camouflage themselves.

Rods and cones. Easy to determine color awareness by studying them. For scientists , not novice biology students. Tom Mann's Bass Bait Company years ago came out with a color selector gizmo that recommended worm color based on water clarity. Must have worked as he sold a gazillion worms and devices. Unfortunately the stupid fish where I fished never heard of it and wouldn't bite the weird colored worms.
