Where is there a good place to fish in NJ?

I just started a salt water tank. Its up and running, but cannot place new fish in it?

  • I have had my salt water tank up and running since January and everything is going well. I have one fish in there a blue yellow tale damsel. However, I was told by the store owner that you want to keep one fish in there for the first few weeks before adding more to develop wanted bacteria. However, every time I add new fish- the one fish I had from the start kills them all? The new fish I got were from the same family too. He became territorial I suppose. How do I proceed without wasting more money on new fish? Should I get rid of him and just get new fish from the same tank at the same time?

  • Answer:

yeeeeah that's what Damsels are really good at doing. They're terrors! What size is the tank? Are there plenty of hiding places in the live rock? Damsels are small but will happily take on a fish twice their size if they are invading their territory. If you want a marine community, you may need to reconsider having this Damsel at all.
