Which are the best fishes to keep in fish bowl?

  • Which are the best fishes to keep in fish bowl? i already have 2 gold fishes

  • Answer:

Ditto to Venice Girl How cruel you keeping 2 goldfish in a bowl ?!?!?! Each one of them needs at LEAST a 10 gallon, so that means you will need at least a 20 gallon tank here are 2 links for you to educate yourself http://www.firsttankguide.net/goldfish.php http://www1.epinions.com/content_3185614980 As for any fish in a bowl??????? Absolutely none, not even a betta is happy in there and should be put in an at least 2.5 gallon tank with filter, heater and a live plant In my opinion, these bowls should be forbidden!!!!!!! The only thing you could put in there are shrimps or raise triops in there EB

Glass or plastic fish. Seriously. No fish should be kept in fish bowls. Much of Europe has outlawed bowls because they are inhumane. I wish that we Americans were as insightful.

I dont even want to begin with why goldfish should never be kept in a bowl for i am sure you will get many posts answering this question. If you are to keep any fish in a bowl the best bet would be a betta NEVER goldfish.

Actually no fish is good for a "bowl" Goldfish or Bettas really shouldn't be in bowls. Do some research if you're seriously thinking about keeping fish and find out exactly why tanks with filters are recommend over bowls.

A betta, as everyone will tell you, is the best fish for a bowl. However, it would do better in a filtered tank. But it can live fine in a bowl. I would suggest a bowl that is 1 gallon or larger. And make sure to clean the bowl 1-2 times a week.

I say Betta Fish are the best for a fish bowl, but a 2.5 gallon tank would be better. I say no fish should be kept in a fish bowl. How would you like to be in a fish bowl your whole life? I say you should invest you money in a nice 2.5 gallon tank. And as for you goldfish I suggest you get a 10 gallon or more tank for them. They can grow up to be about 24 inches or more! -Capp

I have been a fishkeeper for many years now and I have also bred bettas. Never keep a betta in an unfiltered tank, it will not survive very long and will die a painful and slow death. Goldfish tend to hang on longer than most and may appear to be doing well when in fact they are dying a much longer death. A bowl that is filtered and heated and looked after properly can house a handful of small tropicals but please do not keep goldfish in it as they need surface area as opposed to voulume to keep them happy.
