Is my freshwater angelfish is sick?

My freshwater angelfish isn't eating?

  • I've had my angelfish pair for a couple months in my 75 gallon. I have the temp around 80F, and the ammonia is at 0. I think my PH is 6. Well, one day I noticed my angelfish was swimming a lot slower then my other one. I went ahead and started feeding, but the other angelfish didn't eat any. I waited a day, repeated the same process and the angelfish still didn't eat anything. I quickly did a 50% water change. I didn't feed them that day. Today I tried to feed the angelfish again, but still no eating. All the other fish are very active and eat, but this angelfish is swimming much slower then usual, his/her fins are not fanned out like they usually are. What should I do?

  • Answer:

Try feeding it a green pea. Wash your hands thoroughly with dish soap and rinse for at least 30 sec. Place one green pea on a toothpick and hold it in front of her until she at least nibbles on it, this shouls help stimulate her appetite. Otherwise, do a full water test and find out whats upsetting her then watch closely for any signs of fin rot or other diseases and treat accordingly. If you're really worried you could probably set up something with a local petstore, (try a big aquarium store as they are generally more knowledgeable than petsmart or petco) take him in and let a fish expert check him over for signs of disease.
