Would this community tank work?

I've got a plan for a community tank, but I want advice for my 29-gallon. Would this work out?

  • I got a used 29-gallon yesterday, which I'm going to begin to cycle tomorrow or the next day. I'm going to have live plants with a filter, heater, naturally colored gravel, and decorations with plenty of hollows for my animals to hide out in. Driftwood, probably, too. I am planning on putting in two dwarf gouramis, four guppies, two African Dwarf Frogs, and either six rummy-nose tetras, four cory cats, or four otocinclus. I am wondering, though, if I can put in one angelfish if I subtract the tetras/cories/otos, or if the angelfish would be too aggressive to the other fish. I'm especially wondering if it might harm my frogs, my favorite addition to an aquarium. I don't care for angelfish, but my grandfather was rather dissapointed that I wasn't going to add one into my tank. If it is safe, I would like to know so that I can possibly go ahead. If not, he'll just have to live with dwarf gouramis, ADFs, guppies, and cories / otos / tetras.

    Hello. If I were you I would put in 5 Ottos to take care of the algae, I say 5 because they stay so small and any less than that with a 29 gallon tank might not take care of all your algae. I would not recommend the angelfish though. They get so large and I don't think they would be compatible with the other fish you have. Sounds like a good tank though, good luck.

Tonya, that's an African *clawed* frog, dear. Dwarfs are a completely different species, and behave in a very different way. They are different in both attitude and appearance, as well as temperment. They don't eat fish or each other like clawed frogs do. I've owned both, and must say that I much prefer dwarfs. ACFs are voracious little monsters.

i think that if you want to appease your grandfather you should get another tank for the angel fish because it is defiantly to aggressive

U do know that ur frogs will eat all the other living fish it can get its mouth on right.
