Like everyone else has said, typically goldfish are a "cold water" fish - cichlids are tropical... However, goldfish can survive just fine in a tropical water tank as long as the temp doesn't go above 82 degrees farenheit (like all the other tropical fish...). If my 2 Tiger Oscars didn't eat them, all my feeder goldfish would be in heaven in the nice big, warm tank I have set up.

You're joking right. Parrots are tropical, goldies are coldwater. Goldfish produce a lot of ammonia and don't make that great of tankmates with anyone. The parrots are semi-aggressive- as soon as the goldies are large enough to be percieved as a threat, they will start fin nipping, which can eventually kill them. Goldfish are best kept alone and cichlids are best kept with other cichlids. Don't kill your little orandas. One fish that is compatible with them are Dojo loaches (also know as weather loaches, barameter fish). They are wonderful- they like touch so get a pair or they will constantly flirt with your poor goldfish who find it rather annoying. Mine wrap themselves around my hand and wrist whenever I am doing anything in the tank. They are called weather loaches because they are sensitive to barametric pressure- they swim around frantically before it rains or snows. Good Luck!!!

first of all parrots will kill comunity fishes. Secondly goldfish prefer cold water and parrots need a tropical aquarium.

lol @ Wizzy Woman who clearly doesn't know about fish. i'm just gonna repeat what other people have been saying, because it's true! parrots are tropical and need warm water, while goldfish need cold water. also, parrots can be aggressive and might not get along with the goldfish. orandas are pretty sensitive goldfish too, so watch out. i believe that the lady you're talking about kept her fish together happily, but it sounds like a rare case. sometimes things like that work out, but usually they don't because these fish just have really different requirements. i mean it's up to you, you can try it out but there's a pretty low chance of them being able to live together in an environment that is good for both species.
