Is spiny the opposite of stylish?

Spiny eel?please help.?

  • well i got a spiny eel today and they lady said that he would be fine with my neons and tetras. i have a 56 gallon with some gouramies, neons, glow tetras, rainbow fish, angel.and i got a spiny tire track eel.as a cool addition.well he seems kinda not active.i have a ton of plants plus a huge rock with in and out wholes through it.another huge rock and 4 small ones.so he has ton of hiding spots.and he just sits next to this one plant in the corner.his beak looks a little crooked and i gave him some shrimp pellets for tonight.bc the lady said he would be fine eating flake food wich i found out was not true. so i have a few questions. 1. will he eat my neons and tetras and is he a really aggressive eel. 2.will he eat dried bloodworms. 3.is he ok is it normal for him to be sitting on the bottom of the tank.is he just not a active animal or is there something wrong with him. please and thankyou. p.s. he looks exactly like this. http://www.fishforums.net/uploads/post-22-1103649895.jpg

  • Answer:

    1. Your Neons probably won't last more than a month with the eel-- it is a predator and will hunt them down at night with little trouble at all. Depending on the size of your Glow Tetras, they could become a snack too. Yes it is aggressive, but it shouldn't have any issues with fish that it can't eat. 2. Most likely not-- dry foods in general will be ignored, for the most part, and dried bloodworms are no exception. Try frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp instead. 3. Eels are bottom dwellers, and it's likely very stressed at the moment, considering he is fairly new to the tank. When you wake up in the morning, you'll probably find that it's hiding, still adjusting to the new environment. As long as he begins to act fairly normal (which will include burying and hiding), I wouldn't worry too much, especially if it is eating.
